The shooter at a Colorado Springs gay nightclub had charges dropped in a 2021 bomb threat case after family members who were terrorized in the incident refused to cooperate, according to the district attorney and newly unsealed court documents.

Testifying at a hearing two months after the threat, the suspect’s mother and grandmother described Aldrich in court as a “loving” and “sweet” young person who did not deserve to be jailed, the prosecutor said.

The grandmother’s in-laws wrote to the court in November 2021 saying that Alrich was a continuing danger and should remain incarcerated. The letter also said police tried to hold Aldrich for 72 hours after a prior response to the home, but the grandmother intervened.“We believe that my brother, and his wife, would undergo bodily harm or more if Anderson were released. Besides being incarcerated, we believe Anderson needs therapy and counseling,” Robert Pullen and Jeanie Streltzoff wrote.

Aldrich — who uses they/them pronouns and is nonbinary, according to their attorneys — holed up in their mother’s home in a standoff with SWAT teams and warned about having armor-piercing rounds and a determination to “go to the end.” Investigators later found and seized weapons and bomb-making equipment when they searched the mother’s and grandparents’ houses, documents show.

“At the end of the day, they weren’t going to testify against Andy,” Xavier Kraus, a former friend and neighbor of Aldrich, told AP. Aldrich’s statements in the bomb case raised questions about whether authorities could have used Colorado’s “red flag” law to seize weapons from the suspect. Chittum said the “profound” public interest in the case outweighed Aldrich’s privacy rights. The judge added that scrutiny of judicial cases is “foundational to our system of government.”

maybe the case dropped, but that incident should have been in the permanent record

The system works,it's individuals that fail it.

That’s the pic of a bonafide loser if I ever saw one.

So if he had murdered them as threatened, they also would have dropped charges for lack of witness testimony? BS! This is all about the right wing Colorado Springs DA and El Paso County Sheriff not wanting to prosecute one of their own MAGA pol's grandkids.

This kind of stuff is why we need stronger gun laws!

This family is a whole season of AHS.

This guy was,on record,a really nasty piece of work. But he was white and from a good conservative home so,WTF.

JFC! They should arrest the whole family!

Let’s prosecute the family as accessories.

This whole case stinks.

Dang what a shame, elonmusk …Jeff Carlton just deleted his bio on LinkedIn. Which describes himself as “ Former intelligence officer transitioning To managing high profile content Moderation and customer support escalation”… spooks running an operation at Twitter bariweiss

Further proof that putting trust in the governments hands is, and always had been, a mistake… never give up your weapons America.
