“Don’t panic. These showers are a good thing,” said Peter Goble, a climatologist at the Colorado Climate Center at Colorado State University. “I think this storm was a good thing primarily from a drought stand point, and mitigating the probability of things like wildfires later on.”
“We’re not going to see really hot temperatures, which if we did, snow would melt a lot quicker and flooding would be more of a concern,” Schlatter said. “The weather conditions are ideal for a nice slow gradual melt of that snow pack the next 5 to 7 days.”“It just takes one poorly-placed thunderstorm in the foothills on top of one of our many burn scars that we have, one poorly-placed thunderstorm to produce significant flooding,” he said.
Last time we had that flood it was several days of solid rain.
