The 2020 pandemic edition of college football has held many surprises, but none may be bigger than this: Liberty University, America’s largest evangelical Christian college, is suddenly an emerging force in the top level of the game.
In just its third year of competing in the big-time Football Bowl Subdivision, Liberty has an 8-0 record. The Flames are ranked No. 21, ahead of tradition-laden programs like Texas and Auburn. And they are knocking on the door of top bowl games.
