Saturday was a cloudy, cold, and windy day across central and south Alabama. Our daytime high temperatures occurred late Friday night and early Saturday morning. At that time, temperatures were still in the 50s. However, temperatures fell during the day after a cold front pushed through our area during the morning. Winds were brisk behind the front, with gusts over 20 mph at times.
Saturday night lows easily fall into the 30s, possibly to near or just below freezing in many locations. Winds remain out of the north at 5 to 10 mph. As a result, wind chills could be in the 20s early Sunday morning. The sky remains mainly cloudy Saturday night, but sunshine returns Sunday. However, temperatures remain cool, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Sunday night lows fall to near or just below freezing.
Temperatures trend warmer again next week. Monday through Wednesday looks partly to mostly sunny and rain-free. Temperatures trend up from the low 60s Monday afternoon to low 70s Wednesday afternoon. Thursday could be even warmer, with highs in the mid 70s. However, rain appears possible late Thursday through Friday morning. Some showers associated with a front push to our southeast late Friday, with sunshine and another cool-down Saturday.
