The fire, accelerated by winds, covered nearly 200 acres by 11 p.m. local time, officials in Orange County said. Video footage showed smoke covering forested areas and neighborhoods, with flames swallowing large homes in Laguna Niguel, Calif., which is roughly 50 miles southeast of Los Angeles and sits between Laguna Beach and Dana Point.
