WASHINGTON - The head of the main U.S. mine workers’ union has invited all of the Democratic presidential candidates to visit its “turf” to demonstrate that the party still represents the working class.

The invitation could heap pressure on the nearly two dozen Democrats vying for the White House to explain how their plans to combat climate change - most of which call for an end to fossil fuels use - will impact mining jobs. President Donald Trump frequently put coal miners in the spotlight in his 2016 presidential campaign, vowing to put them back to work, in part by cutting environmental regulations ushered in by the Obama administration.

Sixteen of the 20 leading Democratic contenders, for example, have endorsed or co-sponsored the so-called Green New Deal, a non-binding congressional resolution to end the fossil-fuel economy within a decade through massive government investments in clean energy. The resolution was introduced by Senator Ed Markey and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

I hate that we have to have any unions. Goes to show that employers don’t really care about the worker. They just need and want bodies to do the job. “I know the work sucks and the pay is low, but if you don’t like it, you can go.” Just enough to get by, not enough to get ahead.

Why? We need infrastructure & new factories to build solar panels & wind turbines for sale around the world. Maybe to coal Barron's can diversify for when coal is done or they can go buy their private island instead

GOOD UNION JOBS FOR HARD WORKING PEOPLE! WIND AND SOLAR! THERE SHOULD BE WINDMILLS ALL OVER THOSE MOUNTAINS!

I thought TrumpTerd had their backs ? Wth

It's about time! From a Union man--born to a Union man--born to a Union man. When Unions were thriving the middle class was thriving....no Unions----no middle class. We must be Union Strong to withstand this attack on Democracy, Justice & the USA. Women & men fought & died for us

Sad so many U.S coal miners have to keep on working to make a living. Coal capitalists exploiting them to make more money for themselves. Trump too exploiting them for his own benefit. So much misery in Appalachia. None loves them. Every one wants to exploit them.

The coal unions need to start re-education for their people. They need to know that coal will always be an emergency energy for the US ( quick effective ) but that other energy forms will move us into the future. It is what it is. What they need is jobs in other industry

Suprise stprise suprise.

Coal union? That’s like dozens of people

If they won't go, I will. I grew up in Cross Lanes.

What 'turf'? Most of the mines are falling apart and closing.

So, Trump lied? Wow, what a surprise :-)

good, after they should walk around outside in the clean air and ask the coal workers.....'have you ever thought about not worrying about black lung and tunnel collapeses because if so, we have an energy sector for you.'

Oh........... they want to help you...... you must have Black Brain instead of Black Lung.

Trump nearly as popular among college students as top Democratic presidential candidateStudent debt and the cost of higher education have already emerged as prevalent topics among 2020 presidential candidates. Trump: 'I've known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.' That's not true at all. We all know T is way behind in polls. You're bias obviously. If Biden becomes the nominee, more will get behind him.
