Kobe Bryant and Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho were working together on a children's book, but the deleted the draft after Bryant's death in a helicopter crash

'The Alchemist' author Paulo Coelho said"it didn't make any sense to publish without him" on Monday.

“That doesn't stop me from writing someday about things I learned from Kobe and how much of a larger-than-life person he was,” Coelho said. "But the children's book did not make sense anymore." Coelho, who has sold tens of millions of books, said the idea behind his collaboration with Bryant was to inspire underprivileged children to overcome adversity through sports.

But why delete? It would have been a better honour to go ahead and complete the book!! Sad

Mr. Coelho has his reasons. We can only speculate. Not wanting to capitalize on something not wholy his? Not wanting to finish because it will never feel complete? Kobe has his own thoughts and plans for the book that he cannot materialize? It's his way of showing respect? Maybe.

I wish he'd finish what they started together. There are still people out here who need to hear what they had to say

why, sir? 😭

I'm sorry, but this is such a selfish, rash decision. We don't delete our loved ones when they pass.. why delete his thoughts? Horrible, just absolutely horrible.

the deleted the draft confused.

His daughters could have some day, helped finish the book.

Why wouldn’t he give it to his surviving children? It would be a wonderful memento to his daughters!
