returns to University Circle on June 8. The parade kicks off at noon from the museum’s north entrance as a celebration of art, culture, and community.
This year’s theme is “Visions of Harmony.” Participants and spectators are invited to explore the beauty of unity in diversity through imaginative costumes, towering puppets, floats, and intricately crafted masks. The day’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. with Circle Village with fun continuing until 4 p.m. in Wade Oval. Visitors can experience interactive activities offered by the Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland History Center, and Cleveland Botanical Garden. Attendees can also enjoy culinary offerings from local vendors and groove to the beat of Latin City Soul Band live on stage.
Originally from Guatemala, Castellanos Lara has lived in Cleveland for 30-plus years. He is the founder of Cleveland’s annual Day of the Dead celebration and cofounder of ALU , an association dedicated to promoting Latino artists. Individuals, families, schools, neighborhood groups, and community organizations are welcome to participate by creating a handmade parade entry. They can create on their own or attend a Cleveland Museum of Art public workshops. These are held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from May 11 to June 2 and from 6 to 9 p.m. June 4.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
