The bank in January named Roel Louwhoff, a former chief operating officer and chief transformation officer at ING Groep N.V., to the new position.
Mr. Louwhoff on Thursday said his lengthy title reflects efforts to align the bank’s technology and operations teams, in order to better meet the changing needs of its clients in an increasingly digital market. By combining technology and operations, he said, the bank aims to “effectively deliver a seamless end-to-end client experience.
“The traditional CIO role and its responsibility skew towards the technology organization, being order takers, delivering perceived solutions for the business, often creating the proverbial technology-business divide,” said Sathish Muthukrishnan,During the pandemic, Mr. Muthukrishnan said, “we had to step up our game significantly as our customers were interacting with us in unprecedented numbers and patterns.
