Although Expendables 4 and its cast of action greats could not bring audiences to theaters, Chuck Norris very well could. Like Stallone, Norris has enjoyed a vast career that has made him a staple of the genre, therefore his movies are ones that audiences want to see. Furthermore, the fact that Norris hasn't acted in quite a while makes his return important. Audiences will want to see if Norris still has what it takes to lead a big budget action movie, especially at his age.
Why Wasn't Chuck Norris In The Expendables 3 & 4? Though Chuck Norris appeared in The Expendables 2, he left the franchise after only one film, and it's unclear why. One likely reason is that Norris' acting career had already slowed by that point. The Expendables 2 was the first film he had done in six years, his time having been occupied with other pursuits such as writing and publishing.
