Researchers at the Harbin Engineering University in China have developed a high-power phased-array sonar system that is small enough to fit inside a shoebox.

The phased-array sonar is one such example.consist of one transmitting and one receiving unit. To make the detection more sensitive, researchers built the phased-array sonar system. This consists of multiple units that can transmit sound waves and those of different frequencies.
This helps in reducing the volume of the sonar unit circuit since it’s possible to pack 40 independent units into a small space.Nevertheless, it can produce sound waves of up to 238 decibels. This resembles standing next to a military jet as it takes off.At this frequency, the sound waves can be directed to converge at a point. They’re even able to penetrate the outer shell of a submarine.
