Discover the case of Linwei Ding, a Google employee accused of stealing trade secrets related to AI and sharing them with Chinese companies.

A grand jury has accused an employee of Google of stealing valuable trade secrets from the tech giant, specifically information related to artificial intelligence, and possibly transferring this information to two China-based AI companies he was working with in secret.

“By stealing Google’s trade secrets about its artificial intelligence supercomputing systems, Ding gave himself and the companies that he affiliated with in the PRC an unfair competitive advantage,” said Ramsey, referring to the People’s Republic of China . “This office is committed to protecting the innovation of our Silicon Valley companies.”He has been charged with four counts of federal trade secret theft, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

These models are capable of understanding complex language and providing intelligent responses. The indictment explains how Google developed specialized hardware and software to power these processes. The allegations of theft from Google also don’t help the company in the current socio-political scenario between the US and China, which are embroiled in an AI arms race.
