He Jiankui, then an associate professor at Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen, said in November 2018 that he had used gene-editing technology known as CRISPR-Cas9 to change the genes of twin girls to protect them from getting infected with the AIDS virus in the future. He and his collaborators forged ethical review materials and recruited men with AIDS who were part of a couple to carry out the gene-editing. His experiments ultimately resulted in two women giving birth to three gene-edited babies, according to Xinhua.

Good!
He Jiankui performed reckless, unethical experiments on human beings. He deserves his sentence. One positive outcome of this is the conversation, soul-searching, and dialogue it has sparked.
Nazi experiments?
History will reguard him as a hero
ScienceLuc with great power...
Illegal medical practices?
Who funded his research!
...but the UK health system is paying for gender-reassignment procedures.
Everything has dark side. Inventor of Atomic Fission never thought it will have catastrophic effect on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Gene editing potentially can give us unlimited life span but it also has dark use. Goal should be effective use of it not ban.

Ah, so unethical practices
They made people who are genetically immune to HIV. Thats a very big deal, and is a major medical advancement forward for humanity. Give the man a nobel peace prize. He's effectively created a real cure for AIDs.
Results will be evident only when those twins grow up
Well I'm sure it was a fair trial with impartial jurors.🗿
