Beijing is unlikely to approve an 'unfair' deal Oracle and Walmart said they have struck with ByteDance over the future of its video-streaming app TikTok, state-backed newspaper says.

Whereas ByteDance said it will majority-own TikTok Global, Oracle and Walmart together said ByteDance's ownership would be distributed to its investors — many of which are U.S.-based — and that ByteDance itself would have no direct stake. They also said four of TikTok Global's five-member board would be American.

It also denounced the need for a ByteDance to reveal source code to Oracle as part of the latter's role of"trusted technology partner" and criticized the likelihood of TikTok Global blocking Chinese access to its app. "As TikTok and Douyin should have the same source code, this means the U.S. can get to know the operations of Douyin," the editorial continued.

half of there shit is gross, no warning just scroll and you see it weather you want to or not, i don't watch it anymore, could care less what they do with it. some animal cruelty a lot of bullying, false info, a few cute ones in between, but def. def. not for children no way

Have Hunter call them !

I don’t care what anyone says. WalMart is getting to close to Trump. And way to many favors. Are they laundering money for N. Korea like Chase Bank?

Finding it hard to believe that 'merica can't round up enough coders to drop a better app. Then again, what few young folks from China, mostly Shenzen, who find their way to our cyberspace seem a bit tougher than our safe space generation...

Lol.... then get rid of that spyware in the USA

These articles should mention that China routinely blocks US internet companies on security grounds and I don't think American politicians have ever much noticed. Doing the same shouldn't be that big a deal.

Idk

TikTok tussle shows the uneven economic ‘decoupling’ that has accelerated between U.S. and ChinaTrump is still angry at Xi Jingping because he won't forgive Trump's loans w/the Bank of China, another failed attempt at quid pro quo by Trump. IT'S TIME WE ALL COME TO THE REALIZATION that Trump's only interest is his re-election & that Trump couldn't care less about anything or anyone else. 'TRUMP WILL SAY & DO ANYTHING' he thinks will secure his re-election, even endangering other people's lives. Trump's no leader.

China Has Reasons to Like TikTok’s Trump-Approved Shotgun DealA White House-approved plan to transform TikTok into a U.S.-based company would keep the operation of the viral short-video app, and likely the algorithm that has powered its rise, in Chinese hands. This structure improves the deal’s chances of finding favor in Beijing, which had threatened to veto a sale. 😭😭😭😭😭 realistically, the yanks were never in a position to get their hands on that. in chinese... they would say trump lost face in this stupid fuckery 🤣
