EVER SINCE the new coronavirus started to spread beyond China’s borders, the country’s official tally of infections has served as a grim benchmark for the outbreaks that followed. On March 26th the count in China was surpassed by that in America, now the centre of the pandemic. Since then China’s total, now close to 83,000, has also been overtaken by those of Italy, Spain, Germany and France.
Take Hubei, the province hit hardest by covid-19. On February 9th the region reported a 27% increase in new infections. On the next two days, new cases declined by 20% and 22%, respectively. Then on February 12th they surged by a whopping 742% to almost 14,000, before immediately falling back sharply. Chinese authorities say the spike was caused by revisions to the government’s methodology for counting cases.

Well, while reaching the peak they changed the criteria of positive cases from kit test to CT scans because tests were too low and many needed hospitalization, ergo the spike in the middle of the chart.

PM Li's remarks was commanding officers to work comprehensively to report the situation,base on which accurate policy could be released. Not because the numbers reported previously was fake. Totally misleading.
These is little doubt that China die get of under control in reasonable time. If most countries would have acted like them, er would have less problems. Of is no good time vor new conspiracy theories.
The world knew about this didn't we? The old wuhan leadership was criticized like hell, so the new one came in and changed to a stronger tactic which brought changes. What is it that puzzles you? Is it the question why China could flatten the curve and we could not?

According to Worldometer, the spike in cases was due to a change in how cases were tabulated. They decided to include cases with demonstrated syptoms of Covid-19.

Because the formal leaders of hubei province is incompetent, so they were removed, the spike in Shandong province was an infection outbreak in a prison, so the leader was removed too. In China, the rules for infection prevention are very strict!
