The child was taken by police to an area hospital, according to Chicago fire officials.

A child was shot in the city’s Burnside neighborhood on the South Side, according to authorities. The child was wounded around 7:45 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of East 91st Street.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson confirmed that an ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but said police had already transported the victim by the time they arrived. The child, whose age and gender weren’t immediately known, was rushed Comer Children’s Hospital in unknown condition. Chicago police didn’t immediately have details on the shooting.
