For the next several weeks, Roberts will hold down two of the most prominent and difficult jobs in America.

to appear. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to avoid that, but he may lose three or more of the 53 GOP senators.

Even if he doesn't make substantive rulings or break tie votes, Roberts' desire for comity and decorum could lead him to make ample use of his gavel. What Roberts is less likely to do is seek out attention or be baited into speaking out. He has declined media interviews on his upcoming role. And if – more likely, when – Trump bemoans the process in 280-character tweets, don't look for Roberts to respond.

It is time for the judge to be the adult in the room and run the trail. The kids are not capable. The judge must call the lawyers to the bench and lay down the law. Period.

John Roberts is the epitome of a politician in a black robe. His decision on ACA and census question placed him in the category of a politician permanently. Richard Wolf can not change that with his article. Roberts IS a politician. Mark my word!

Especially with the democrats & their compliant media pressuring him to move things their way...

He will not preside for the American people, republicans never do.

So.....does the Supreme Court also shut down for the duration?

Difficult? Really? Maybe unique or skilled but difficult?

Rehnquist said it was easy

Presiding over to warring factions is difficult Presiding over actors pretending to be two different factions? Not difficult at all

Replies are hilarious. As if Warren, Sanders, Klobuchar, & Bennet will solemnly listen to “evidence” & prayerfully vote with whichever way it leads them, no matter what. All four should be dismissed as “jurors”; talk about meddling in elections..that’s all this shitshow is about.

easy job, throw it out.

I doubt he will do anything other than exonerate trump. He is no jurist he is a partisan hack and a traitor to the constitution.

He was shaking. Legacy make or break moment of truth. To uphold justice he would most certainly stand alone and at odds with his party. His oath demands nothing less.

There is no crimes. Not 1. He will dismiss.

I am sure he can do it, they get overtime and plenty of smoking breaks. Go Roberts

And yet he still won't be as important to the world as a new born child taking his or her first breath.

Sitting there and silently supporting trump in ruining American democracy doesn’t seem that hard.

Expect a story or two in both the 'Washington Post' and the 'NY Times' on what they 'expect' Justice Roberts to do. They'll sling around phrases like 'right side of history' because he's especially susceptible to that kind of influence. (Sure worked on him with Obamacare.)

Soooooo.....I wonder if Chief Justice Roberts is in agreement to withhold evidence and witnesses?

Let me shed a tear for him. 😂

Johnny...

John Bolton could provide 'smoking gun' evidence in Trump's impeachment trial—if he's allowed to testify'Next to Donald Trump himself, this could be the most important witness that the Senate could call to determine what the actual facts are,' a former Watergate prosecutor said. The way it has gone even when we have “smoking gun” evidence it doesn’t move the needle. The act of fighting his testimony by the Republicans has more effect than what the actual testimony will. Recent history will prove this out. I prefer he not take the stand. West wing fanfic
