A Chicago man who spent nearly two decades behind bars for murder has been released after his identical twin confessed to the crime.

Kevin Dugar, 44, was released from the Cook County jail on Tuesday night "and breathed his first breaths as a free man in almost 20 years," his lawyer, Ronald Safer, said.A Chicago man who spent nearly two decades behind bars for murder over a deadly 2003 shooting has been released years after his identical twin confessed to the crime.

Dugar had spent nearly 20 years in jail after he was convicted in the deadly 2003 shooting of a rival gang member. Initially, the admission had little impact on Dugar’s case, with a judge ruling in 2018 that Smith’s confession was not credible and declining to offer his twin a new trial,Smith had been denied an appeal himself as he was serving out a 99-year sentence for a home invasion that saw a child shot in the head.

Wow! They played the system. The twin that just got released never complained or even brought up the fact that his brother could be a suspect until his brother got a life sentence

FitzBeatSr Brother brother.....let's skip to the part where Marvin sings 'what's going on?'

My jaw. Wha?

😂😂😂😂 now that’s funny

Sad. Just sad.

I just want to know whether this guy told someone twenty years ago that he had a twin brother that might have done it, and did the cops follow up on that.

Typical American laws.Get a ‘suspect’ as quick as they can(as long as they are black.)

And the investigators didn't know he had a twin? What sloppy work.

This is called splitting the time.

nice bro......

BRO!!! LOLOLOL

This brings the term evil twin to a whole new level.

Should make for an awkward Christmas.

That man should be paid enough money by the state so that he never has to work again - as with all the wrongly convicted.
