SAN DIEGO — A charter bus rolled down an embankment off a Southern California highway Saturday, killing three people and injuring 18 others, authorities said.
Emergency crews rescued several people trapped in the wreckage after the bus crashed around 10:20 a.m. on State Route 76, about 45 miles north of San Diego, the North County Fire Protection District said.Three people died at the scene, and 18 others were transported to hospitals, the district said on Twitter. Their conditions have not been released.

I’m a truck driver in Socal and I see these charter buses every morning. They fly. At least 80 mph or more. Yesterday one passed me like I was standing still and I was going 55.

Bus probably didn’t have seatbelts. I was on a bus recently and I was surprised it was equipped with a seatbelt but that was in a third world country, not the US. For some inexplicable reason we think we don’t need seatbelts on busses so when they roll, people die.
