This is why I race cars, love my roll cage! Football has become a sport for animals, not humans.....

sha_merirei This is news? Like, we know about head injuries and that helmets lessen the blow, not prevent it. But it’s science so I’m glad it’s in the news. Pro-Tip, the only organ fully encased in bone is the brain. So... may not want to bang it into things, eh?

Why do we still play football? Even South Africa doesn’t practice this form of torture.

It’s a good thing they are getting paid...

SteveStuWill And yet a large part of our sportcentric public school budgets, time, energy go into promoting this damage.

Wow!

Truly though, glad these studies are being done. Not for the purpose of “damning” a particular sport, but to get a sense for what kinds of physical trauma is being incurred. At minimum it should/could result in widespread rule changes to lessen the risk of injury.

I bet the NFL will respond with a Trumpian “I don’t believe it.”

It was also an incredibly small cohort, with no nerve bundle integrity issues. We only know they grew longer or shorter. Its unpublished and hasnt gone through peer review. You cannot infer or deduce any true conclusions regarding this especially if the changes were good or bad

Colleges that have abandoned football: University of Chicago, 1939 University of Denver, 1961

25 years ago the high school football coach wanted my stepson to try out for the team. I strongly discouraged him, told him to try a non-contact sport, instead. He didn't go out for the team. That was one of the best things I ever did for him.

Wow😳As a mom who supported her child through multiple concussions I take this issue seriously. The damage caused by concussion is cumulative- as in, it adds up to mess with your brain. Our doctor compared it to boxing but 🏈 seems similar. 😧

Callosum. Correct in your article, changed to a misspelling in your tweet. Why?

You have to wonder: How much longer?

🙄

Child abuse

Yep, it might be time to put football on ice.

Are you faking again?

More wildfires, drought and climate change bring devastating changes to California wildlandsSouthern California's native landscapes are famously tough. But repeated wildfire and drought amplified by climate change pose a growing threat to wildlands that provide us with drinking water, untamed refuge from the Southland’s sprawl and stop mountainsides from sliding into our living rooms. Sounds like you should stop wasting money on trains and illegals and start saving for climate disasters Global temperature continued its descent in December since its peak during the 2016 mega El Nino. The Earth has cooled by about 0.62 C for the past 2 years. I predict that this downward temperature trend will continue at least until Mar of 2020. It’s almost as if California has a desert climate and is prone to drought. 🤔

After years of repeal votes, House poised to defend Obamacare under Dem majorityDemocrats are planning major House rule changes at the opening of the 116th Congress. The changes address key party priorities in the new era of divided government. Contrast Republican priorities with Democratic priorities. This is why for the past two years I have been donating to Democrats who are running for office. ObamacareIsUnconstitutional and made it easier to increase taxes, funny that didn't make the headline

Wisconsin Republicans forge ahead with power-stripping billsMADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Republicans moved quickly Monday with a rare lame-duck session that would change the 2020 presidential primary date and make sweeping changes to the duties of the governor and attorney general's offices. The changes being sought would shift power to the GOP-controlled Legislature and allow outgoing Republican Gov. Scott Walker to make one last major mark on the state's political landscape after he lost re-election in November. Michigan Republicans are behaving in a very similar fashion. Cowards. Shame!
