Census to leave citizenship question off 2020 questionnaire

The Census Bureau will not include a question about citizenship in the printed questionnaire for the 2020 census, according to an email sent by a Justice Department official.

“We can confirm that the decision has been made to print the 2020 Decennial Census questionnaire without a citizenship question, and that the printer has been instructed to begin the printing process,“ a DOJ attorney wrote to plaintiffs in related lawsuits.the question to be added without further explanation from Census officials. Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the court’s liberal wing last week in a surprising decision that sent the case back lower courts for further review.

The Census Bureau said during litigation that it faced a June 30 deadline to finalize printed questionnaires. However, President Donald Trump threatened to delay the census following the unfavorable Supreme Court ruling, which thrust the process into uncertainty.

You have to ask why are these people so against asking such a simple question, anyone with a brain know that it should be asked and asked often.

So do we include visitors on vacation from Europe. Since they are in country for may 2 weeks or a month.Maybe we could have forms placed in the hotel lobby or the airport; that way we could make sure they're covered for representation while visiting from the moment they arrive.

This travesty is designed to give Democrats more House representatives. So.....U.S. citizens should NOT complete a Census2020 form. Then we’ll know how many illegals we have. I’m sick of unelected judiciary running our Country. POTUS We must take back control.

Good. And i know Trump is an idiot, but there have to be people under him that aren't. There are ways to derive the number of non citizens from citizens. Social security administration for instance. GOP is just pissed that they won't have the names and addresses of non citizens.

All because they didn’t argue the point correctly. The question has existed for decades out of short points where it wasn’t there. Not having it on the census makes the census suspect. It can’t be used in court as evidence of guilt.

They may frame some other question in such a way to still try to get citizenship info....

It will be even harder for republicans to gerrymander, if we get everyone to claim they are white while filling out the census

Illegals aren't citizens. They shouldn't be counted. Hell even registered aliens / green card holders aren't citizens - but they SHOULD be counted.

Congress and journalists may still want to check the language before it comes out on how the questionnaire is worded
