As of Thursday, 882 people were tied to the Provincetown outbreak. Among those living in Massachusetts, 74% of them were fully immunized, yet officials said the vast majority were also reporting symptoms. Seven people were reported hospitalized.
The idea that vaccines halt transmission of the virus was largely behind the CDC's decision in May suggesting vaccinated people could safely go without their masks indoors and in crowds, even if others were unvaccinated. But that assumption had been based on studies of earlier versions of the virus. Delta was known for its"hyper-transmissibility," or as one former White House adviser put it"COVID on steroids.
All indications now are that the Provincetown outbreak investigation is among the pieces of new evidence behind the CDC's decision to ask Americans to once again put on their masks indoors, even if they are vaccinated. But Walensky hinted that the biggest driver was new unpublished research on a person's"viral load" -- the amount of virus in a person's nasal passages -- being considerably high even after being vaccinated with a U.S.-approved vaccine.
Getting vaccinated is like catching COVID-19 in a safe way. It helps the body to gain immunity without making you sick. And it can prevent you from dying from it.
This is not wise… vaccinated or not. When I heard the outbreak was in Provincetown I sort of guessed that most gatherings of vaccinated people do not get this intimate. Hopefully this is a one time event.
I would just like to know when is it that we don’t listen to the science?
cherrypicking
The vaccine doesn't stop the virus from landing on you and entering your body. It inhibits it's ability to replicate once there, that's why you can test positive but not get as sick. Just like the flu shot.
I'm so sick of this F***n Delta variant 💩
He looks weird. Is he a member of the Alphabet community?
Well I guess the west indian day parade won't happen for a 2nd straight year thanks covid you B**** 😂
TheLatterAnointing 코로나바이러스는 맛보기 입니다. 정말 환난직전입니다.
I’m not vaccinated
No freaking masks....no freaking shut downs. Deaths are tanking despite cases going up.....we’ll be ok
What’s the change in survival rate?
This needs to go VIRAL! Stay safe
Once again you fools promote the mask more than the vaccine 🙄
Did he die?
There is no cure for any virus. And vaccines aren’t 100% effective either. Herd immunity is the ultimate solution.
Is he sick? Not likely. Testing positive isn’t the same as sick. I dare say if everyone was tested, it would probably be 75-80% positive results.
So there are people whom think you cannot get covid 19 once you’ve been vaccinated?! Wow 🤦🏻♂️
I wonder if he'd be dead without the vaccine?
End of the story wear the mask.
Was it science that told us not to wear masks or social distance? I think science bowed to public pressure
This is hilarious that the CDC is basing its masking of vaccinated on one group of test results. Fucking amateur hour.
wow ok thanks
Listen to The scientist who told you the vaccine worked? Are you insane?

Anyone over there planning to ask the CDCDirector why she ordered states to stop reporting on breakthrough cases, that don't result in hospitalization or death, back on May 1st?
So they used an outbreak of almost 1000, 74% of whom were vaccinated, leading to ONLY SEVEN hospitalizations and ZERO deaths to lead them to determine vaccines alone aren’t effective and masks are needed?
Which of the following would make you want to get vaccinated?
Science evolves and this virus is new.
This is not surprising. Can't wait for the Pfizer variant.
