on Thursday warning Americans to avoid traveling on cruise ships due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 and in light of recent outbreaks on cruise liners.“The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily between people in close quarters on board ships, and the chance of getting COVID-19 on cruise ships is very high, even if you are fully vaccinated and have received a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose,” the CDC said in its alert.

The Seven Seas Mariner cruise ship passes through the Panama Canal after it was barred from docking in Cartagena, Colombia, on Wednesday due to COVID-19 infections on board. “Avoid cruise travel, regardless of vaccination status. If you travel on a cruise ship, make sure you areand get a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose if you are eligible,” the CDC said. “Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself from severe disease, slow the spread of COVID-19, and reduce the number of new variants.”
