Columbus City Schools postponed community engagement meetings following a leaked strategy document that has union and community members outraged. Tuesday, detailing a plan to silence CCS families and communities members who speak out against the closure and consolidation of schools.
"Many parents and teachers have been saying since the beginning of this process we need more community engagement," said Rita Hallaveld, mom of a CCS kindergarten student. "We don’t have enough opportunity." "We just wanted to take the time to reschedule the events," said Dr. Chapman. "We want to certainly make sure that we have time to connect with our community."
Hallaveld said she does not feel the events that occurred Tuesday are a valid reason to postpone the community sessions.
