The US Customs and Border Protection, along with several agencies, has launched a new operation targeting criminal organizations that transport drugs to the United States. The operation, called 'Operation Spike', aims to combat criminals who channel fentanyl from Mexico to American communities.

“Mientras el fentanilo y otros opioides ilícitos causen tragedias en las comunidades estadounidenses, los hombres y mujeres del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional no descansarán en su lucha para impedir que estas drogas mortales lleguen a nuestras calles y cobren vidas”, dijo el Secretario de Seguridad Nacional Alejandro N. Mayorkas.

Valenzuela enfrenta varios cargos relacionados con tráfico de drogas y el comunicado dice que él y su organización son presuntamente responsables de trasladar miles de libras de fentanilo a la frontera de Estados Unidos. “El fentanilo es la amenaza de drogas más letal que nuestra nación haya enfrentado jamás.
