Catherine Zeta-Jones joins ProdigalSonFox

Prodigal Son

for its second season. She'll be a series regular and foil for Michael Sheen's character in the series. "An extraordinary talent, Catherine Zeta-Jones is the perfect foil for the brilliant Michael Sheen," said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn."I can't wait to see these two greats go head-to-head in a season that is bound to raise the bar set by an outstanding season one."

In her first series role on a broadcast network, Zeta-Jones will play Dr. Vivian Capshaw, the resident MD at the psychiatric institute where Sheen's Dr. Martin Whitly is a patient. When Martin is assigned to infirmary duty, she initially assigns him to menial tasks, but as he proves valuable in treating patients, Dr. Capshaw begins to see him in a new light — which is not a good thing.

The show is slated to begin its second season on Jan. 12; Zeta-Jones will make her first appearance later in the run.
