Why can't the US_FDA hire from the abundance of underemployed college graduates to set up a state-run, non-profit pharmaceutical manufacturer for all these type of drugs? SAVe money by working at scale with taxpayer backing.
It's your fault! How long you been in congress? All you have to do is regulate it like the state's do auto and home insurance. Companies have to show their results to the state to justify a rate increase. Do the same to big pharma - regulate them.

I read the article - can you do a bit of research and discover if this drug was originally created as part of a public University or publicly funded research lab? I think it's a very pertinent point.

They may have high spendings for developing a rare disease medicine. But they make millions too much off other drugs and must use that money to cross-finance the other ones. No need to make the victims pay.

Drug prices must be limited to cost plus a fixed fee, say 5 to 10%. The R&D costs are included in the cost calculation, not just the manufacturing costs!

I like how the company justification for unreasonable pricing is that it will be covered by insurance. A) you need to have insurance and many don't and B) inflated drug prices are one reason why insurance is so expensive. Pharm price gauging. It should be illegal.

Did I read this correctly? It seems Catalyst didn't even develop the drug and therefore has no research and development costs. R&D are the usual justifications for high drug costs. Here, the 'justification' seems to be greed.
I just don't understand how making money off of sick people by inflating the cost of drugs isn't considered price-gouging - because that's exactly what it is, and it should be illegal for that reason.
They didn't defend jack shit. Saying other drugs cost that much is not a defense, that just points out how obscenely priced those drugs are too. There is no defense for raising the price from $0 to $375,000. It was 0 wks ago because the maker said it was so cheap to produce it

What Catalyst Pharma doesn't understand is that the problem isn't limited to them. They're just one example of the industry. Saying their prices are comparative to industry doesn't help their case.
