Former Eufaula girls basketball coach Jermieke Cliatt said he had no plans to leave his administration role as assistant principal at Millbrook Middle School, but got an offer he couldn’t pass up.
“When Carroll reached out with the opportunity of possibly coming back to coach and do some other roles in the school system, I prayed about it and after consideration, I felt it was the right move for me and my family at this time. Now I am able to do my passion and purpose in life as far as coaching and helping lead young men in the right direction.”
“That was the only thing that was going to bring me back out of administration – coaching boys basketball , which was something I hadn’t done. Prior to becoming the Eufaula girls coach, Cliatt was an assistant varsity boys coach to Michael Smith. He helped the Tigers to two state Final Four appearances, including a state runner-up spot in 2018. He was also the Eufaula JV boys basketball coach for four seasons and guided the program to 21-1 and 19-0 records in two of the seasons.
“We want to compete for state championships,” Cliatt said. “That is the goal moving forward. I want to put my mark on it and build off the recent success with the trip to the Final Four a couple of years ago.”
