A graphic novel for children from the wildly popular “Captain Underpants” series, “The Adventures of Ook and Glu," is being pulled from library and book store shelves after its publisher said it “perpetuates passive racism.”

NEW YORK — A graphic novel for children from the wildly popular “Captain Underpants” series is being pulled from library and book store shelves after its publisher said it “perpetuates passive racism.” The book under scrutiny is 2010′s “The Adventures of Ook and Gluk” by Dav Pilkey, who has apologized, saying it “contains harmful racial stereotypes” and is “wrong and harmful to my Asian readers.”

The book follows about a pair of friends who travel from 500,001 B.C. to 2222, where they meet a martial arts instructor who teaches them kung fu and they learn principles found in Chinese philosophy.Scholastic said it had removed the book from its websites, stopped processing orders for it and sought a return of all inventory.

Cheap politics of the cynical double standard left.

So, do you want diversity, or exclusion due to passive racism? What the hell is “passive racism” exactly? Enough is enough. If we cancel something every time a non Caucasian race is included, we’ll have nothing but “Caucasian” inspired books and movies, etc... give me a break!

The World has gone to shite.

Dear Trumpers: This, like Seuss +Pepe, was a decision made by the AUTHOR. It was NOT cancelled by liberals, BLM, Antifa, AOC, Kapernick, Billie Eilish, Starbucks, higher education, men wearing hipster hats, electric cars, vaccines, Twitter, France, Beyoncé or the gays

JAIL

I loved these books as a child so I'm sad to see it go. but y'know you cant shake off the racism stuff. Very sad

i hate you all

If the author AND the publisher both agree on the series being problematic, then why are people even trying to debate it themselves 🙄

Fucking bullshit

Holy fuck

So we don’t want to kids to learn about kung fu or principles found in Chinese philosophy?

Chaulk another one up for the cancel culture! They're winning, btw.

Lmao a white and black caveman learn from an Asian man life lessons and Kung Fu, then save him. That's not 'racism'. My Korean students enjoy this book and liberals embarrass themselves daily with their nonsensical bullshit.

So I grabbed my son's copy of adventuresofOokandGluk (captainunderpants ) This is what ppl don't like? I can name a hundred other things I don't like about this series - mainly it's just dumb as hell & there's better graphic novels out there- but this ain't it. 1/4

So, learning Kung Fu and Chinese philosophy is racist now?

So confused Stories says..went to king fu master Anadarko learned Kung fu... ah what is racist

What is passive racism and also where is the right of free speech and Individual opinion and thought? Just asking for me!

Can we cancel SpeedyGonzales next please?

noooo not CaptainUnderpants I just wanted yell that. So I did. femnism mondayvibes

Please state which books (The Adventures of Ook and Gluck) are being pulled or you’re part of the problem. Be part of the solution.

I don't understand, it's because they travel to the past and learn Kung Fu from a Chinese instructor?

Next up? Everyone Poops.

This is absolutely nonsensical. The depictions themselves aren’t even stereotypes, yet alone “passive racism!” (Stereotype is often used incorrectly and literally refers to an oversimplification. There are Chinese that do practice Kung-Fu) 1/2

Glad states are starting to fight back with laws that prevent this type of cancel culture. We all know of the author wasn't white, Captain Underpants wouldn't be under speculation. These people claiming they see passive racism or whatever are ACTIVELY looking for it.

So... excessive wokeism, or an attempt to improve sales of aging IP, Dr. Seuss style?

This will upset the Republicans

Yay! instead of educating, let's pretend it doesn't exist by censoring! Good job, you woke morons.

This all cool by me but buckle up for a week or two of the right talking about how 'The left have come to take away Captain Underpants'. (Side note: Not a bad working title for a porno🤔🤔🤔...)

This is complete nonsense.. Asian kids love that book series.

absolutely fucking cannot wait for Don Jr. to post a video of himself reading captain underpants

When is Disney cleaning up half their content then? 🤔🤔. A message at the beginning of a movie basically saying “racism included” enjoy. How about Scooby Doo stereotype throughout every older version of the cartoon 🤔🤔....🤭🤭🤭....if you don’t like it don’t look at it

Lmao, idiocracy is taking over
