The company has tapped rising scribe Megan McDonnell, a staff writer on the Marvel-based series
, to pen a script for a follow-up to the 2019 pic that starred Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. McDonnell is in final negotiations to seal her deal.Sources say that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who co-wrote and directed the initial film hit, will not return to helm the sequel but are in talks to remain in the Marvel Universe and direct a possible Disney+ series.
Larson played Carol Danvers, a human who becomes involved in the war between two alien races, the Kree and shape-shifting Skrulls.

Concerned about this one . I would like to see marvel attempt a grittier story line and raise the stakes a little with a more complex and hard to understand character. The blueprint that they are using is fast becoming to predictable and monotonous.

Finally saw CaptainMarvel last night. Biggest issue is, Carol faces no real obstacle. The villains are no match for her. Sequel needs to give her a real threat, a la The Dark Knight, so that even when she wins, she loses something important and learns from the experience.
