The Capitol Police officer charged with helping a Jan. 6 rioter attempt to evade the FBI has resigned from the force. This ends Michael Riley's 26-year tenure as he prepares to fight the case against him.

. Riley’s legal team, from the D.C. firm Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White, confirmed his resignation and indicated he plans to fight the charges.

There are still unanswered questions about Riley’s actions in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 attack. Though prosecutors revealed that the FBI had obtained incriminating evidence against Riley as early as January, he remained on the force for nearly nine months. And Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger indicated he had only learned about the case just weeks before Riley’s arrest.

“im a capitol police officer who agrees with your political stance,” Riley wrote, according to the indictment. “Take down the part about being in the building they are currently investigating and everyone who was in the building is going to be charged. Just looking out!”

So what, he resigned. He still should be charged

Why read biased if it will not let us comment to counter their biased ways? Forget them and go to MSN.

RESIGN’S? He should have been FIRED WITHOUT PAY or PENSION!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course. Not fired. Resigned. Full pension and benefits for life.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Now the criminal charges

What is the status of his pension?

I have been warning my fellow Americans for nearly a year now. I wish more would listen & understand what exactly is happening to our country. If we don't wake up & defend our republic, we will lose it.

The Jan 6th protesters are political prisoners and victims of a completely corrupted system that only caters to the 1%, while preying on the 99%. This country doesn't work for all Americans and those who complain will be hunted down and jailed. NoDemocracy OligarchsRule
