Workers in safety helmets and vests were busy anchoring steel columns in a concrete foundation built into the rocky ground at Joint Base San Antonio - Camp Bullis , creating the spine of what will become a $28 million dining facility. The above-ground part of the foundation was lined with wooden boards holding the drying concrete in place. To get an idea of what the new dining facility, or DFAC , will look like, it's helpful to talk to project manager Justin Curry .
The 88-year-old wooden dining hall is part of a small complex of four buildings devoted to producing meals for both troops eating in the facility and those who have to chow down in the field.
