Total cases in the most populous U.S. state climbed above 414,000 with just a handful of California counties reporting 4,700 new cases so far on Wednesday. If California were a country, it would rank fifth in the world for total COVID-19 cases behind only the United States, Brazil, India and Russia. New York currently has over 412,800 total cases and is adding on average 700 new cases a day in July. In California there is an average of 8,300 new cases a day.
“No one anticipated building a program to contact trace the number of cases we’re seeing here,” Dr. Ghaly said at a news conference, referring to Los Angeles and other counties struggling to trace cases of the disease.
😖😖😖
Another democrat led state. Of course.
Popehat Can you give per capita stats? California is the nation’s most populous state so....
Have you heard of per capita? We have a lot of people in California. 🤔
Popehat Gee, great news here in So Cal.
Not sure why you people insist on continuing to write headlines that don't take into account population size. It's just factually wrong and hella irritating.
Popehat In absolute cases, yes. In cases per capita, no NY has twice the per capita infection rate of NY.
CA is not the worst state in a true comparison. AZ and LA have almost three times as many cases per capita in the past 30 days, and second and third to NY for per capita cases since March.
Popehat California has at least 10mil more residents than the next populous state so I’m really not sure what the point is here.
Popehat One dude in the picture with a mask
The 23 states with more cases per capita: New York State Louisiana Arizona New Jersey Rhode Island Florida Washington DC Massachusetts Mississippi Delaware South Carolina Alabama Georgia State Connecticut Maryland Illinois Iowa Nevada Nebraska Tennessee Texas Arkansas Utah
No. Just no. 30k8k
2 democrat run states!
That's surprising, they were the first to close the state and implement Gregorian rules, and only let up slightly. It seems those measures simply didn't work. They destroyed peoples lives in an experiment of control.
ALL DUE TO DISNEY LAND DONAND DUCK
With a small difference 8000 CA, 32000 NY ⚰️
Cali is beautiful and walkable my City isn't I really miss walking to places 😭
The bigger story here is the strength of the pier. What’s the link between obesity and covid?
Nice job Gov Newsom
I’m not in favor of how quickly we’ve reopened, but CA has double the population of NY, so this statistic and headline is misleading clickbait. Per capita, we are still doing better than many states.
LOL, so false.
New York has had over 30,000 deaths and California less than 8,000 so I'm not sure how this is possible
I don't see masks. People are stupid.
Proximity to Mexico and an influx of illegals may explain. Also, free flow across the border.
Imagine that. The mask mandate makes it worse.
