by researchers at Boston University and the University of British Columbia suggests the number may actually be far higher — possibly as high as 5,600 annually — with even moderate heat waves increasing the number of deaths.in the Western U.S., and it's doing the same to wildfires.
Fire season is just heating up in California, with more than dozen blazes burning through the state. The heat wave won't help firefighting efforts and there are concerns it could dry out vegetation in other parts of the West, setting the stage for future fires. Fortunately, strong winds – a chief driver of California's recent deadly fires – are not forecast in the coming week.
Efforts to protect people from the combination of those factors as well as blistering temperatures are being. I'm a Bay Area resident and I just wanted to correct the statement that rolling black outs haven't occurred since 2001. They occurred last year in 2019 from August- October, leaving some people without power for weeks. There were quite a few deaths.
How can anyone not see climate change as the number one issue world wide?
Why would anyone want to live in CA?
Rolling blackouts should be in parts of California that do not need air conditioning! California should take over PG&E. Peer and water should be owned by the people!!
congratulations! soon you’ll be venezuela
What global warming?
🍉I'm really melting, can we just start cloudseeding 🍉
State 👏 subsidized 👏 solar 👏 panels 👏 for 👏 everybody There's free, safe energy being delivered to us by the sun. Why not use it?
Unreliable power grids are a characteristic of third world nations.
It’s time to cut out the electric companies. Let’s go full solar and/or wind (wave on the coasts)
soon when the green new deal is implemented all of usa will have rolling black outs all the time . What renewable energy can provide base load power to the grid? How do you make a solar panel without petroleum?
What Happened? There Solar and Wind Mills can't Keep Up? Maybe they need to Build some Clean Coal Power Plants?! Progressivism Bites People in the ASS Again!
Wasn’t that part of Enron’s fraud? Those blackouts?
As a Floridian I just don’t understand why their power grid can’t handle this.
