Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to make California the first state to cover everyone under its Medicaid plan regardless of their immigration status.

High school senior Yovany and his mother Leticia fled Guatemala in the fall of 2017, but Leticia was eventually deported and Yovany was placed in the U.S. foster care system.SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- With state revenues at an all-time high, California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday proposed a budget that would cut taxes while also promising to pay theIt will cost state taxpayers about $2.2 billion per year to cover the cost ofcare for the state's low-income immigrants.

California taxpayers already pay the health care costs for low-income immigrants 26 and younger and plans to cover people 50 and older this May. Newsom's proposal would cover everyone else starting in January 2024. The biggest tax cut would be for businesses. At the start of the pandemic in 2020, California temporarily raised taxes on businesses to help offset what they thought would be a huge deficit. Instead, California posted record surpluses. That tax increase was scheduled to expire at the end of this year. Newsom wants to to end it one year early, which would cost the state about $5.5 billion in revenue.

The state did this last year, but families with no incomes weren't eligible. This year, Newsom wants to also give that money to families with no incomes. That would cost about $55 million a year. He also wants to give $1,000 to people who have come through the state's foster care system but are still 25 or younger. That would cost about $20 million.

Did we agree to take in 5,500 refugees? This should be his problem. Californians can barely keep afloat and now you want us to pay for medical for immigrants. I don't even have medical. What is wrong with him

I can’t even afford to use the insurance I have can we work to make premiums affordable too?

The poor taxpayers of California will bear the burden The hard working California's in California's should all be covered regardless it should be a check for a check

Meanwhile cops and citizens are being murdered in California streets.

I'm not on board with that plan, that's the problem our country is experiencing now, as legal Americans are struggling to get coverage. Why should working Americans' deductions pay for those who aren't legally here? The floodgates will open for Cali, and it won't be positive!

They do pay taxes

Three words for GavinNewsom Support Rooftop Solar

Who’s going to pay for this? I’m sure all the doctors, nurses, etc will be happy to work for free.

Government has no business being involved in healthcare. He likes to bleat on about how wonderful his state is while the homeless continues to suffer and the power grid keeps failing.

That should be done by the government for the whole country not just one state.

Go. Brilliant. The people who feed Americans! You, ABC? Try for decency. Real journalism. We, The People, are exhausted. Tired. Tired of BS. Your ratings are not journalistic to us anymore.

I would love to live in your state. I will vote for you anytime, anywhere; if you’d protect me and give me the healthcare that all Americans should be given

Gov. Gavin Newsom asks for $2.7 billion to battle COVID-19 pandemicGov. Gavin Newsom proposed spending another $2.7 billion to expand testing and boost hospital staffing, while calling for a new law to give workers more paid time off if they get sick. Could it be because of his mandates good hospital workers are quitting their jobs? Maybe it's another big money decoy to make us believe he's doing something positive, kinda like the million dollar China mask order. Where did that go? Should have been more than a month ago, but okay. Projected Infection peak is a couple weeks weeks away. Guessing he'll take credit then.
