Around 8,000 wildfires have burned over 3.6 million acres of California this year.

Firefighters continue to battle 27 major wildfires in California, including the Bobcat Fire in Los Angeles County, which has been burning since September 6 with"a rapid rate of spread," according to the latest report Tuesday from the Incident Information System of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group .

The Bobcat Fire"remains very active, with active wind-driven spread, upslope and downslope runs, torching and spotting, passive and active crowning observed," and"all critical thresholds for large fire growth are being exceeded," the report confirmed. Around 8,000 wildfires in California have burned more than 3.6 million acres of the state this year to date. Over 6,500 structures have been destroyed and 26 people have died since August 15 when the state began seeing increased fire activity, according to the latest report Tuesday from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection .

"California will continue with mostly seasonal temperatures today into Wednesday. The milder weather that much of California is currently experiencing will be coming to an end this weekend," with a sharp increase in temperatures to come as high pressure builds over the region, Cal Fire noted."Today [Tuesday] marks the first day of fall and this is the time period California historically experiences some of the largest and most devastating wildfires," Cal Fire warned.
