While Gov. Gavin Newsom has pledged to make California a sanctuary for women seeking abortions, his administration won’t spend public money to help people from other states travel to California for the procedure.

Newsom’s decision, included in a budget agreement reached over the weekend, surprised abortion advocates who have been working with the governor for nearly a year to prepare for a potential surge of patients from other states coming to California for abortions now that the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade.

"We’re being realistic. You’re going to ask, ‘Are we going to pay for everyone’s travel and accommodations for 33 million people, of which 10% may seek care in California?’ Come on. We have to be realistic about what we can absorb," Newsom said. "It’s not just the government providing and supporting. It’s all of us. It’s you, it’s me, it’s everyone contributing."

Travel within California is important too, she said, because 40% of the state’s 58 counties don’t have abortion clinics, accounting for 3% of California’s female population. Many of them are low-income.

DEM politicians like Newsom & Pelosi do anything to buy votes with legal calfornia residents money, paying for health care for them to be reelected over & over again as I pay $785 a month for Kaiser & $6 a gallon gas with over $1 in taxes for every gallon, Vote Dems out in 2022!

Being a sanctuary state for abortions is one thing, but providing money to help them get here, screw that; the least the walking clown cars can do is pay for their way here.... No responsibility.....

Thanks GavinNewsom ! But don't use any money cause it could go to Californiians. That's not our problem. Them being able to get it should be enough.

GavinNewsom as long as California tax dollars are not being used to fund abortions so be it. However is a penny is spent of tax payers money it then should be decided upon by the people. After all it’s all about freedom of choice isn’t it?

Maybe an attempt to materialize medical revenue in the process for the state?

He needs to sit down

Good.

Are they coming to their senses or only for mid terms then back to the usual tax n spend from democrats

GOOD!! We shouldn’t be doing that at all. He can use his own money for that.

Good. They want to come and terminate their babies then they can get a plane ticket.

Imagine if you would have done the same for people who didn’t want to get the jab? You can’t have it both ways! And you will never be President..

Nor should he, California taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing residents of other states.

Gavin, no free travel and hotel accommodations? What about a complimentary early dinner at the French Laundry?

To be clear, I am Pro-Choice. Having said that, why should tax dollars paid by Californians be used for travel by non-residents? Pro-choice advocates/volunteers & non-profits must develop organized, creative & sustainable ways to set up travel funds for women in their own state.

Is there anything this guys does without 20 layers of BS?

Gavin is an empty suit. He still banging his friends wives too?
