LeBron James 'decision' to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010 didn't surprise Byron Scott. The former Cavs head coach, who won Coach of the Year in 2008 with New Orleans prior to signing with Cleveland in 2010, told Keyshawn Johnson on his 'All Facts No Breaks' podcast that one of his former players informed him of James' decision prior to his infamous television special.
I said, ‘If LeBron comes back', we got a chance to win a championship. did not think — they said ‘he will not leave.' … They didn't plan this out real .' As for whether he could've influenced James to choose differently, Scott was doubtful. 'I think his mind was made up,' Scott said. 'I think he was gone way before the season even started. I think this was all in the plan when they all played in the Olympics together, and they spent that time together.
