Burger King in New Zealand has removed an advertisement showing diners eating burgers with oversized chopsticks

The fast-food giant posted the short clip on social media with the caption:"Take your taste buds all the way to Ho Chi Minh City with our Vietnamese Sweet Chilli Tendercrisp." On Tuesday, there was no sign of it on Burger King New Zealand's Instagram, Twitter or Facebook pages -- although the burger was still on the menu on the company's website.A Burger King spokeswoman told CNN that the company had asked its franchisee in New Zealand to remove the ad immediately.

— 마리아. Maria. April 4, 2019 Maria Mo, a Korean-New Zealander, described the ad as"Orientalism.""I couldn't believe such blatantly ignorant ads are still happening in 2019," she told CNN."I could not believe that such a concept was approved for such a big, well-known company."Read MoreMo said that chopsticks had been used for centuries, so it seemed"foolish and insulting" to portray them as an awkward, oversized utensil.

Show them eating dolphin or whale burgers instead

If you're going to get mad at Burger King, get mad about those little fry pods. They're ripping you off on fries.

Social justice warriors need to stop. I am not one bit offended by this ad. Asians don't care and will never be victims.

So will the president now ban their assault chop sticks also ?

News flash: People in Asia use chopsticks.

You know what is offending me Burger King? That you are offerded over chopstick used in your add. No Burger King for me for the next month will be your punishement.

Imagine if the people showed the same outraged for war and the killing of innocent the world would have been a much better place.. And Americans would have destroyed a lot less countries..

no worries mate

I would say boycott Burger King!! But I don’t care enough. Maybe boycott CNN for this lame news?

Using the same ad agency as Dulce and Gabanna?

More people being offended by something stupid

Culture appropriation is the biggest bs of our century. Are we meant to only do activities inherent of our background. If I like chopsticks then I will use them as I wish

Never vote democrat.

OHHHH NO THATS TOO OFFENSIVE WE CANT HAVE THAT OHHH NOOOOO

Christ. I didn't realise New Zealand was full of down syndromes.

Why? They're racist and think Asians don't enjoy jokes? Odd.

Strange hankering for a whopper right now..

Why?

Those who believe that such advertising ideas are some how acceptable really need to bridge their cultural gaps. AdvertFailure

Crackerjack reporting over there at CNN, covering the important ongoings of the world. 🙄

That add shows how racist white people can be! We all know this but who has ever tasted New Zealand beef? I have and that beef there is damned GOOD! The grilled Swordfish is to die for as well!

What the hell has happened to our sense of humour? The P C world has gotten totally out hand, all over the planet! For a couple of generations of peeps who spend all their time with heads down looking at a screen, they surface/'pop up' to scream at this? Wow.

Cuz cultural appropriation. White man must use fork only.

LOL good grief.. as an ethnic Chinese I find no offense in silly jokes or stereotypes but I take deep offense of my human right when crybabies start banning free speech of any sort. Have a laugh or close your eyes and move on, banning things make you 'Literally Hitler' hurr durr

OMG, I understand being sensitive to other cultures, but if they're THIS MAD over an only using chopsticks, people need to catch their breath. Why does everyone have to be so damn offended over everything?

妥妥的歧视

The only way to celebrate diversity is to stop people talking about other cultures

They should have people eating sushi with giant forks.

Maria Mo, a Korean-New Zealander, described the ad as 'Orientalism.' Guys! Stop with this 'Orientalism'. Also, Asians should stop wearing pants and suits because they'd be doing 'caucasianism' which is very bad and racists!

😂

IT.WAS.A.JOKE. The SJW mob do actually need this EXPLAINING to them......

Why did it hurt a liberals pussy? How unfortunate...I bet not a single Asian-Australian gave a single fack about that add, and some white person pretending to be a minority complained. You know I’m right.

CNN stop pushing liberal Pc agenda and trying to be woke

oh-oh, pole-vaulters are offended ... 😂

Why?!?!

So stoopid. Lighten up, Francis.

This move by Burger King probably just ended worldwide racism.

ysg_ceo new

Yea, in New Zealand....a Hajib would be more appropriate.

and what's wrong with that

A brand doing something stupid? We don't see that everyday huh

Burger King’s chopsticks ad is just the latest example of branding gone wrongThe fast-food chain debuted an ad showing customers eating its Vietnamese-style burger with chopsticks. Customers blasted it as culturally insensitive. Hey Washington Post I just graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a bachelors degree in marketing. How many retweets do I need for you to interview me for a marketing position. I won’t disappoint you. hirecharles Or an example.of the liberal mob finding racism where none exists. But the same people are ok with presidential candidate Robert O'Rourke's culturally appropriated nickname. Either go all in, or back off. Don't pick and choose when to be outraged.
