Rescuers says at least 10 primary-school pupils"thought to be alive" are trapped inside a three-story building which collapsed in central Lagos. Residents say building houses a school with about 100 pupils.Many people including children were feared trapped on Wednesday after a building containing a school collapsed in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos, an emergency agency spokesman said, as rescue efforts began. Residents reported seven children had been rescued at the site.
Workers on top of the rubble shovelled debris away as thousands of people swarmed around the rescue site –– dozens watching from rooftops and hundreds more packed into the surrounding streets."At least 10 children" are inside the building and are "thought to be alive," said the rescuer, who gave his name as Derin.
The building was in the Ita-faji area of Lagos island, the original heart of the lagoon city before it expanded onto the mainland. Sani Datti, a spokesman with Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency, said that officials from the agency and other emergency services were at the site.A 3 storey children school just collapse in Itafaaji, Lagos Island.
