Bucks 118, 76ers 116: A finishing flourish by Giannis and championship-level defense lead to a comeback win

And while Milwaukee’s Big Three of Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday had not played together since a win in Sacramento on March 16, the trio was the difference.

Wesley Matthews drew the start for the Bucks to take on James Harden for most of his 25 minutes, but Harden had arguably his best game with his new team with 32 points and nine assists. From there the teams essentially traded baskets, with the Bucks taking a 108-102 lead with 5:14 to go on an Antetokounmpo free throw. The Bucks began working their way back from a 14-point third quarter deficit thanks to a closing flourish by Antetokounmpo that made it 89-81 76ers heading into the fourth. The 76ers went on a 10-2 run to take a 78-64 lead with 6:09 to go in the third – the largest lead for either team in the game – but in the final 3:09 Antetokounmpo scored nine points to cut the deficit to eight.

Milwaukee and Philadelphia traded 11-point leads in the first half, with the Bucks taking the first one in the opening quarter and the 76ers in the second before they brought a 61-51 lead into the break. Milwaukee took a 27-24 lead after one quarter thanks to an 11-0 run in the heart of the quarter and went up 25-14 with 2:22 to go on an Antetokounmpo jumper. The 76ers closed on a 10-2 run, however, which set up their strong play in the second quarter.
