BTS's First All-English Single Is a '70s Homage With a 2020 Feel

In homage to the legends of the 1970’s and in line with the disco-pop records of the moment, BTS have returned with a new single, “Dynamite.” The Korean idol group’s latest drop comes just 6 months after the release of their seventh album“Dynamite” joins the roster of disco-infused pop music that came out this summer, along with Dua Lipa’s.

This new song, written by Dave Stewart and Jessica Agombar, is a sugary, energetic cousin to the group’s 2019 hit “Boy With Luv,” but it’s also a big departure from what we’ve come to expect from BTS. The most surface-level difference is that it’s the first all-English song performed by the full group. K-pop differs from western pop in that songs often fuse various sounds and genres within a single track.
