After years of campaigning, BTS have finally been nominated for a Grammy. The septet is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their global smash “Dynamite.” The nod marks the band’s first nod at what is known as the biggest night in the music industry, and it is long overdue. BTS have been one of the most successful acts in the world for years now, and they continually break records and prove their incredible and unrivaled popularity over and over, churning out more hits and bestselling albums than most artists could dream of. In addition to being giants on the charts and when it comes to sales, critics have been applauding their output for some time, and they seem to be getting better and better with each subsequent drop.
“Dynamite” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 back in September, and it managed to earn several stays in the penthouse before slowly working its way down the ranking of the most-consumed tracks in the U.S. every week. The cut is already one of the biggest in the world this year by nearly any metric, and it’s not going away anytime soon.
BTS is nominated alongside some of the hottest stars in pop these days, and come early 2021, they’ll compete against J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny & Tainy’s “Un Dia ,” Justin Bieber and Quavo’s “Intentions,” Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain on Me” and Taylor Swift and Bon Iver’s “Exile” for the golden gramophone.
