By Washington Post Staff February 28 at 2:59 PM Harper agreed to an offer that pulled him from the only professional home he’s ever known after seven seasons and six all-star appearances, turning down a 10-year, $300 million bid by the Nationals to keep him. The No. 1 overall draft pick who debuted for Washington in 2012 at age 19 quickly blossomed into a perennial all-star and was the 2015 National League MVP.

For years, his impending free agency had been one of the sport’s most discussed topics, with whispers of a record-setting contract looming from an outpost such as New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia or Chicago.

Not a Phillies fan but if I were I’d be upset. These deals rarely work out. Especially when the player may be a diva.
