Russian authorities reported a fire on Monday at a fuel depot in the city.There was no immediate indication of whether the fires were connected to the war Russia is waging in Ukraine. The Druzhba fuel depot on fire belongs to Russian state-controlled oil pipeline company Transneft. The depot's location is strategic for the conflict in Ukraine. Bryansk, a city of 400,000 people and the administrative center of Bryansk Oblast, lies 93 miles from Ukraine and serves as a logistics base for Russian troops fighting in the neighboring country. The city is some 240 miles from Moscow.
