CLEVELAND, Ohio -- That’s probably the last time anyone will refer to the 2023 Cleveland Browns as The Elfs.
The Browns also won only their third opener since 1999 -- improving to 3-21-1. They moved to 2-15-1 in home season openers. The Browns also got this 2023 party started at 1-0 and knocked off the defending champion AFC North champs — and back-to-back participants in the AFC Championship Game as well as Super Bowl runner-up in 2021.
The Browns served notice that they’re on a mission to seize the division this season, and the victory was a heck of a way to start. The Browns have three AFC North game in the first four weeks — with a Monday Night game in Pittsburgh up next on Sept. 18. For Watson, if it’s not working all that well with the arm, try the legs. That’s the beauty of Watson.
The Browns also lost starting right tackle Jack Conklin to a knee injury in the second quarter, and it appeared to be serious. Massive Fourth-round tackle Dawand Jones replaced him ahead of James Hudson, and may end up starting his NFL career a lot sooner than anticipated.
