Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley — the duo behind New Line's sleeper hit— are set to direct the feature based on the popular fantasy role-playing game from Wizards on the Coast. Goldstein and Daley also wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft by Michael Gilio.
The game of Dungeons & Dragons is known for its war games, treasure hunts, campaigns, camaraderie and reversals of fortune, all in a setting that combines humans, elves, orcs and hundreds of other creatures. The game famously uses multisided dice in gameplay and is overseen by a host known as the Dungeon Master. It is not known whether the movie adaptation will be a straight-up fantasy film, set in the world of the game, or incorporate the storytelling and game-playing aspects.
Jeremy Latcham is producing through his deal with studio eOne, Hasbro’s entertainment arm. Hasbro’s Brian Goldner is also producing. Hasbro/eOne and Paramount are jointly producing and financing, with eOne distributing in the U.K. and Canada, and Paramount distributing rest of world.
dungeonsanddragons movie Bridgerton BHM
Everandever80 He can't act. Just a pretty face
😍
Also, I like the line in the article that DD uses 'multisided dice'. As opposed to the one sided dice so many other games use, presumably.
Ok, so I can see Pine as a paladin (also alliterative, always a win), Rodriguez as maybe a barbarian or fighter, Smith maybe a bard? Page, maybe a rogue? Just hope the writers/directors do at least some research into what D&D actually is so it isn't painful for anyone who plays.
Bridgerton wasn’t my cup of tea, but he was fantastic 👌🏽 nice choice
He and Chris Pine are the reason to watch.
