“The 11th Hour” anchor launched into a segment on former President Donald Trump meeting with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy at Trump’s Palm Beach, Fla., club-cum-residence Mar-a-Lago on Thursday by teasing, “We are all about to see something for the first time. We have what I’m told is the first video ... exclusive video out of this meeting today between McCarthy and Trump. We’ll watch it and react on the other side.
“We were sold a bill of goods here — I thought this was going to be of the McCarthy and Trump meeting,” he said, “and someone is going to be, of course, in big trouble.” And Williams’s barbs didn’t stop there. The anchor later asked Thurston if McCarthy had visited the former president to “kiss the ring” while visiting what he sarcastically called Trump’s “underdecorated Florida home.” Thurston replied that he was still “recovering from the clip,” adding: “Thank you, and I’m mad at you right now for making me break so much.”
