In a tweet, his daughter described him as"larger than life" and"generous to a fault."Dennehy co-starred in a long list of popular movies, including"First Blood" , the western"Silverado," and the science-fiction classic"Cocoon.

Met Brian Dennehy years ago in Santa Fe. He was anything but the tough-guy character into which he was often cast — soft-spoken & erudite, yet down to earth, he was a pleasure to be with.
One of my favorite movies of his is 'The Mackenzie Break.' RIP to a fine actor.
A road for us all, but still, so sad very. He will definitely be missed. An actor with natural raw talent, absolutely one of my favorite. Genuine by nature, and rugged in his own way, but always gentle in spirit....
