Bret Bielema makes curious comment about Penn State; early PSU-Illinois predictions are in, and more

Bielema addressed Penn State’s skill position players as part of his Monday news conference and made a remark that created more questions than answers,“They do a tremendous job in recruiting and they’re allowed to do things there at Penn State that allow them to get a lot of skill players in the program.”

Was Bielema taking a shot at Penn State? Was he implying an advantage the Lions had on the NIL front? Perhaps delivering a statement to his own administration about where the Fighting Illini stand in that arena? Either way, Bielema is impressed by Penn State’s skill guys, and maybe the program’s NIL work, which coach James Franklin had insisted for almost all of last season, was well behind where it needed to be.
